Abstract: “Ethical criticism of literature” has become increasingly prominent in China, promoting the development of ethical criticism around the world. Yang Gexin has compiled the treatise of Research on American Ethical Criticism from the perspective of academic history, Using the academic critical method of “down-to-earth learning” with both Chinese and western characteristics as well as falsification, the treatise has conducted historic summarization, conclusion, induction, deduction, history and relevant comparison of American ethical criticism in both synchronic and diachronic views. Meanwhile, it has positively integrated the subject consciousness of China, trespassed the fences of forced explanation and aphasia, examined and reassessed on the basis of historic development, and constructed the possibilities of a new order of ethical criticism of Chinese literature.
